Following an invitation of the Audit of the Public Funds Department within the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland (AFCOS Poland) a delegation of five representatives of the AFCOS Directorate headed by the Director Mr Ivaylo Nikolov visited Warsaw for the period 4 – 8 June 2017. The aim of the study visit was exchange experience and good practices in the field of fight against fraud, affecting the financial interests of the European Union.
The study visit was carried out as an activity within the framework of the project “Providing for and supporting AFCOS Directorate’s activities with regard to its work under the European Structural and investment funds (ESIF)”, contract BG05SFOP001-4.002-0010-С01/03.10.2016, funded by the Good governance Operative Programme, priority axis “Technical assistance in management of ESIF”, budget line № BG05SFOP001-4.002-0010.
The Bulgarian delegation was welcomed by the Director of the Audit of the Public Funds Department – Mr Krzysztof Faryna and the Deputy Director Ms DorotaKwiecinska. The hosted institution – the Ministry of Finance, has organized several meetings and discussions with the Management and representatives of the Department. The Programme for the Study visit included also meetings with the Management and representatives of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA), the National Police Headquarters – the Criminal Bureau and the Central Investigation Police, the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) and the Ministry of Economic Development – the Coordination of the EU Funds Department – the Managing Authority for the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme. The main topics of the discussions were the implementation of the EU legislation at the national level in Poland and in Bulgaria, the differences, good practices and concrete case studies.
The study visit ended with common agreement to strengthen the good cooperation between AFCOS – Bulgaria and AFCOS – Poland.
